The Artist is an upcoming 2011 French romance movie directed by Michel Hazanavicius, starred by Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo. The story begins in Hollywood between 1927 and 1932 and focuses on a declining male movie star and a rising actress, as quiet cinema goes out of fashion and is overwritten by the talkies. This movie is itself a silent film and in black-and-white. Dujardin won the Best Actor Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where the movie premiered.
Hollywood, 1927: As silent film star George Valentin wonders if the coming of talking photos will cause him to fade into oblivion, he sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer scheduled for a big break.
